SIGNIFICANCE OF

HAJJ AND UMRAH

:From the book “ Hajj and Umrah” by Prof. Dr. Ghulam Zarquani Quadri.

INTRODUCTION

Hajj stands as the fourth pillar in the beautiful building of Islam, as the Merciful Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) said:
( Bukhari: Imam Muhammed bin Ismail, vol: 1, P: 102 )
[ Prophet of Allah (Peace be upon him) said: Islam is based on five pillars: to witness that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is the Messenger of Allah, to offer Prayer regularly, to pay Zakat, to perform Hajj and to observe fasting.]
Indicating its obligatory status, the Holy Quran reminds us:
( The Holy Quran, Chapter:2, Verse: 196 )
[ And complete the Hajj and Umrah for the sake of Allah ]
Because of its deep effect in the life of a Muslim and unique outcome, the Prophet (Peace be upon him) regarded Hajj amongst the most valuable actions.
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:572 )
[ The Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah, the Exalted be upon him) was asked, which is the best deed? He replied: “to believe in Allah and his Messenger”. He was then asked, which is the next? He said: “to participate in Jihad in the way of Allah”. He was then asked again, which is the next? He then replied: “to perform acceptable Hajj”. ]

MANDATORY ACTION

In principle, Hajj is one of the mandatory actions in Islam. But its mandatory aspect depends on one’s individual condition and financial position.
If Allah the Exalted wills, we will discuss all the basic conditions which make the Hajj mandatory on an individual, placing some sub-topics.

  1. Being a Muslim
The foremost basic condition for Hajj to become mandatory upon a person is Islam.
  2. Being a sane adult
Therefore, Hajj is not mandatory upon children or any mentally ill Muslim. According to the Hadith,
    ( Abu Dawood: Imam Sulaiman Ashas, E-Book, No:1488 )
[ Three persons were forgiven; one who is sleeping until he is awake, a child until he becomes an adult, and a mentally ill until he becomes sane. ]
Although Hajj is not mandatory upon a child, it is allowed for him/her to perform it as an optional Hajj, and when Hajj becomes mandatory upon him/her after growing up to be an adult, he/she must perform another Hajj, as the Prophet (Peace be upon him) suggested,
    ( Muslim: Imam Muslim, Vol:3, Page:642, Edition:4 )
[ The Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) met a Caravan at Raoha and asked: Who is in the group? They replied: Muslims, then they asked: Who are you? He said: The Prophet of Allah. Later on, a woman brought her child to him and asked: Is Hajj allowed for him? He said: yes, and you will get the reward. ]
  3. Ability
Hajj is mandatory upon those who can afford it.
    Allah the Exalted said:
    ( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 3, Verse: 97 )
[ And Hajj is a duty owed to Allah by people who can afford it, and those who deny, then Allah does not stand in need of anything in the whole worlds. ]
According to Scholars, this ability includes:

    • Health ability:
It means one should be in good health and mentally sound.
    • Financial ability:
It means one should have enough money to cover all the necessary expenses for Hajj.
    • Safety:
Access up to Haram should be safe.
    • Mahram:
Along with all of the above abilities, one more should be added for a women i.e. Mahram.
Therefore, a woman must have her husband or a male who is not allowed to marry her.
      ( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 434 )
[ The Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) said: women must not travel a distance of 3 days without a Mahram ]
      And in another Hadith,
      ( Al Fiqhul Islami Wa Adillatuhu: Dr.Wahba Zuhaili, Vol:3, Page:36 )
[ The Noble Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) said: no woman should perform Hajj but with her husband ]
  4. ) Free from Iddah
( A woman who was divorced or her husband died should stay at home for a ceratin period. This is called “Iddah” in Islamic jurisprudence.)
A woman who is still in her Iddah is not allowed to perform Hajj.
    Allah the Exalted says:
    ( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 65, Verse:1 )
[ And turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they leave133 ]
ONCE IN THE LIFETIME

After meeting all of the above conditions to make Hajj mandatory on an individual, it is required to perform Hajj once in the whole life. Therefore any other Hajj after the first one, is regarded as an optional Hajj.
( Muslim, Vol:3, Page:647 )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) gave us a sermon and said: O’ people! Allah made Hajj mandatory upon you, so perform Hajj. Then a person asked: Is it every year ‘O prophet of Allah? The Prophet (Peace be upon him) kept silent. Then he kept on asking the same thrice, then the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: If I said yes, it would have been regarded so and you can not afford it……. ]

UNIQUE REWARD

The reward of an acceptable Hajj is beyond our imagination. We can achieve through it whatever we need for a comfortable life in this world and a pleasant future in the Hereafter.
Let us hear some of the beautiful sayings of our Beloved Prophet Muhammed (Peace and Blessings be upon him) about the reward of Hajj.
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 572 )
[ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not commit any improper action or sin, then he returns as if he were born today. ]
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 645. )
[ The Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: Reward of the Hajj is nothing but Paradise. ]
( Kanzul Ummal: Shaikh Ali Muttaqui, E-Book, Vol:5, )
[ The Beloved Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) said: A performer of Hajj is forgiven and also, one who he asks for his forgiveness. ]
Only those sins which are caused by unnecessary delay in performing mandatory actions or liabilities are forgiven through Hajj.
It should be noted that Hajj can’t wipe out the sins related to the rights of Allah, the Exalted, like Prayer, Fasting, Zakat etc. or the rights of people like debts, stolen items etc.
Therefore, after returning from Hajj, one must sincerely try to make up all left overs related to the rights of Almighty Allah and compensate for the rights of people, if any, through acceptable means in the Muslim society as soon as possible.

UMRAH

Performing Umrah is also a highly appreciated action. However, it is not mandatory upon any Muslim, male or female.
( Musnad Ahmed: Imam Ahmed, E-Book, No: 14771 )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Jabir (May Allah be pleased with them) that a villager came to the Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) and asked: ‘O Prophet of Allah, tell me about Umrah, is it mandatory? He said: No, but it is better for you to perform it. ]

REWARD OF UMRAH

Our beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) encouraged us to perform umrah through his beautiful sayings.
( Bukhari: Imam Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:645 )
[ The Noble Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: Umrah is an expiation for the sins commited between this Umarah and the previous one ]

( Muslim, Vol:3, Page:481 )
[ The Prophet of Allah (Peace be upon him) said to a woman: When the Holy month of Ramadhan starts, then make Umrah, because performing Umrah in it will be equivalent to a Hajj. ]

IHRAAM
INTENTION &TALBIA

Putting on ‘Ihraam’ is the beginning point for a journey up to Hajj or Umrah. Therefore, it is very important to know all of its aspects.
IHRAAM FOR MEN AND WOMEN:
Ihraam for men consists of two pieces of cloth; worn or new, one to cover up the lower half of the body and another to put on the shoulder. For men, a sleeper is allowed so that high rise bones of their feet should be exposed.
( Musnad Ahmed, E-Book, No:5012. )
[ The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: One of you should put on a piece of cloth for the bottom portion of the body and one as a shawl. ]
There is no special dress as an Ihraam for women. They should use their usual dresses but not to cover their faces. They should put on socks and wear gloves.

WAY TO PUT ON IHRAAM

Following the instructions given by Our Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) we will get to know the way of putting on an Ihraam systematically.

  1. One who wants to put on Ihram should take a shower or make Wudu, but taking a shower is the best.
    ( Dar Qutni, E-Book, No: 2461 )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Zaid bin Sabit (May Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) took a shower before putting on his Ihraam. ]
Taking a shower is also preferred for the women who are in their periods or having bleeding after childbirth.
    ( Tirmizi, E-Book, No:960.)
[ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Indeed, those who are having periods or having bleeding after childbirth should take a bath and put on Ihraam. They should perform every action required for Hajj except making Tawaaf. ]
  2. Take a little amount of non-alcoholic perfume or Itr and rub on Ihram and body.
[ Narrated by Syyeda Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I used to put Itr on the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was putting on Ihraam. ]
  3. Men should take off their sewed dresses and put on Ihraam, and women should put on their usual dresses.
  4. Make two rakaat Optional Prayer, if dislike timings (اوقات مکروھۃ) do not prevail. It is preferred to recite Al( الحمد..+ قل یایھا الکٰفرون….) Hamdu and Qul Ya Ai Yu in the first rakat and Al Hamdu and Qul Hu Wal La Huin the second rakat.( الحمد …+قل ھو اللہ .۔. )Ahad
    ( Fathul Qadeer, Vol:2, Page:439.)
[ Narrated by Shaikh Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) made two rakaats after putting on Ihraam at Zul Hulaifa. ]
THINGS PROHIBITED IN IHRAAM

Ihraam literally means “making something prohibited”. Therefore, after putting on Ihram, a performer of Hajj or Umrah must abstain from a number of things and actions. Some of them are as follows.

DRESSES

FOR MEN

  1. Putting on sewed dresses.
  2. Covering up heads with caps, turbans or any cloth.

    ( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 577. )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Ibn-e-Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) that a person asked the Prophet (Peace be upon him): What should a performer put on? The Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied: He must not put on shirt, turban, pajama, cap and socks except for one who did not get slipper then he may put on socks and tear off their middle bone areas of the feet. ]
    And also:
    ( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:671. )

    ( Ibn-e-Maja: Imam Muhammed bin Yazid, E-Book, )
[ A person asked the Last Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace and Blessings be upon him): Who is the performer of Hajj? He replied: A person in an ordinary outlook, having no fragrance. ]

    ( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 2, Verse: 196. )
[ And do not have a hair cut ..]
According to the renowned Islamic scholars, this order includes the hair of every part of the body.
( See, Al fiqhul Islami Wa Adillatuhu, Vol:3, Page: 239. )
HUNTING
  1. Hunting
    ( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 5, Verse: 95. )
[ O believers, do not hunt while you are in Ihram. ]
  2. Helping in hunting through pointing towards them.
    ( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:663. )
[….Shaikh Abu Qatada ( May Allah be pleased with him) hunted an animal while he was not in Ihram and brought it for his friends who were in Ihram then the Prophet (Peace be upon him) asked his companions: Did any one of you order to hunt it down or point towards it? They replied: No, He said: Then eat it…..]
  3. killing lice or throwing it away.
FIGHTING

WITH WOMEN
  1. Talking with women in a way leading to sex or kissing them with lust or having sex.
The above verse of the Holy Quran provides the base of this prohibition.
THINGS ALLOWED IN IHRAAM

Based on the guidance provided by our Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace and Blessings be upon him) several things are allowed in Ihraam. Eying on the short format of this book, we will discuss some important ones only.

  1. a shower using soap without rubbing the body, in order to remove filth.
It is recorded that Abu Ayub Ansari, a renowned companion, has taken a shower and said: I saw the Prophet (Peace be upon him) doing it in the same way.
    ( See, Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:668.)
  2. Killing harmful animals like lizards, snakes, scorpions, mosquitos, etc.
    ( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:664. )
[ Indeed the Prophet of Almighty Allah (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: Five animals are amongst those who are harmful, so they may be killed: crows, kites, scorpions, rats and dogs. ]
  3. Using umbrella or taking shelter
    ( Muslim, Vol:3, Page:534. )
[ Narrated by Hadrat Umm-ul-Husain (May Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I performed Hajj with the Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) on his last Hajj. I saw Usama and Bilal (May Allah be pleased with them), one of them holding the nose-string of the Prophet’s camel and the other one stretching his cloth to provide him relief from the sun’s heat…]
  4. Washing dresses, putting unscented black powder in the eyes, taking off a broken nail, smashing bumps, taking off any hair inserted in the eyes, placing bandage if needed on the body except face, putting a ring on the finger, etc.
INTENTION

Since there are three kinds of Hajj, it is necessary to designate what the Ihram is for?
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 94. )
[ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Deeds are based on intention..]
In addition to the above hadith, our Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) directed his companions to nominate the Ihram with specific deed.
Therefore, performers of Hajj or Umrah should make intentions according to the different kinds of Hajj they intend for.

  1. Performer of Tamattu (تمتع) should make the intention as saying:
( See, Alfiqhul Islami Wa Adil Latuhu, Vol:3, Page:124. )
[ O’ Allah, I want to perform Umrah, so make it easy for me and accept it from me. I intend for Umrah and put on Ihraam for it for the sake of Allah. ]
Note: This is also the way of making intention for the usual Umrah.
  2. Performer of Qiraan ( قران) should say:
( See, Alfiqhul Islami Wa Adil Latuhu, Vol:3, Page:124. )
[ O’ Allah, I want to perform Umrah and Hajj, so make them easy for me and accept them from me. I intend to make Umrah and Hajj and put on Ihraam for both of them for the sake of Allah ]
  3. Performer of (افراد) Ifrad may say,
    ( See, Same Reference )
[ O’ Allah, I want to perform Hajj so make it easy for me and accept it from me. I intend for Hajj and put on Ihraam for it for the sake of Allah ]

Note: If you are making Hajj on behalf of someone else, then you must mention the name of that person in place of ( مِنِّیْ) from me.

TALBIA

After making intention, the performer should say Talbia at least three times. Talbia is as follows:
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:579. )
[ Lab Baik, Al La Hum ma Lab Baik, Lab Baik La Sha Ree Ka La Ka Lab Baik, In Nal Ham Da Wan Ne Ma Ta La Ka Wal Mulk, La Sha Ree Ka Lak ]
After saying the above Talbia, the performer practically entered into the state of Ihraam.
The performer, except, a women should say the Talbia loudly.
( Tirmizi, E-Book, No: 835 )
[ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: The best of the Hajj is to say Talbia loudly and sacrifice an animal. ]
The Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) was directed to ask us saying the Talbia loudly.
( Musnad Ahmed, Vol: )
[ The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Angel Jibraeel (Peace be upon him) came and directed me to ask you to read the Talbia loudly. ]
( Asheatul Lam aat, Vol:3, Page:674. )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Sahl bin Sa’d (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: When a Muslim chants Talbia, every thing on his right and left side from stone, tree, soil up to one side of the world to the other, chants the same. ]
It is preferred for the performer to chant the Talbia as many times as he/she can, maintaining three times repetition in a single Talbia each time.
After chanting Talbia, the performer should make supplication, asking Allah’s blessings as our Noble Prophet (Peace be upon him) did.

Way of Performing UMRAH

As we discussed earlier, Umrah is an appreciated optional action. Also, we talked about its importance and the reward of performing it under the shade of the Islamic jurisprudence.
Now, we will discuss the way of making Umrah. For the definitions of terminologies being used in it, one should refer to the second chapter of this book.

LOOKING AT THE KAABA

The performer of Umrah or Hajj, in a state of Ihram, should make supplication on his/her first sight at Kaaba, as it is most likely to be accepted by Allah the Exalted is He.
He should read this dua three times:
Then recite this dua as our Prophet (Peace be upon him) recited:
( Sunah Bailhiqi, E-book, No:9480.)
And add up this dua too as the Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) did:
( Same Reference, No: 9482. )
In addition to the above supplication, you can makeany other supplication you wish to make.

TAWAAF

Without making any optional prayer or delay, the performer should start making Tawaaf as our Noble Prophet (Peace be upon him) did.
( Bukhari:, Vol:1, Page:599. )
[ Narrated by Syyeda Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) that while getting in Kaaba, the first thing that our Prophet (Peace be upon him) did was making wudu and then performing Tawaaf. ]
For making Tawaaf, while in wudu, one should make Idh-ti-ba and stand up in front of Rukn-e-Yamaani facing the Holy Kaaba. Then make intention in the follwing way:
( Hajj-o-Ziarat: Mufti Jalaluddin Ahmed Amjadi, Page:46, )
[ O’ Allah, I intend to perform Tawaaf of your sacred house, so make it easy for me and accept it from me. ]
Then you should move to your right side and kiss the Black Stone if possible, otherwise make Istelaam and stop saying Talbia.
( Muslim, Vol:3, Page:428. )
[ Shaikh Jabir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with them) said: .. we came with the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to Kaaba, so he performed Istelaam…]
Starting from Black stone and coming again to it, is called one round. You are supposed to make seven rounds while making Ramal in the first three rounds.

[ Shiakh Jabir bin Abdulah (May Allah be pleased with them) said: ….then the Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace and Blessings be upon him) performed Ramal in the first three rounds and walked in the last four rounds. ]

Note: Only men should do the Idh-ti-ba and Ramal.

During Tawaaf it is not required to recite any specific dua. Therefore, you can make any dua you want. However, a simple dua for each part of the Kaba is being placed here, based on the practices of our authentic Muslim scholars.
When you come to Multazam, then recite this dua;
And at the Rukn-e-Iraqi read;
And when you come to Mizaab-e-Rahmat recite;
And when you come to Rukn-e-Shami read this dua;
And when you reach to Rukn-e-Yamaani read;
When you get close to Mustajaab, read this dua;
And when you come in front of Black Stone kiss it or make Istelaam as our Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) did.
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page: 598. )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Ibn-e-Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Prophet (Peace be upon him) performed Tawaaf. Whenever he got close to the Black Stone, He made Istelaam. ]
It is not allowed to stop for a while during Tawaaf in order to recite the above duas. You are supposed to read it during your normal Tawaaf. However, if one can’t read that dua, it is better for him/her to recite durood during Tawaaf, as it is the best dua.
A person came to our Prophet (Peace be upon him) and inquired: what if I decide to recite drood all the time? The Prophet (Peace be upon him) replied:
( Tirmizi, E-Book, No: 2645. )
[ Then it will be enough for all your problems, and your short comings will be forgiven too. ]

SALAAT

Your Tawaaf will meet an end at Istelaam. Now, replace the Ihraam as it was before Idh-ti-ba. After finishing Tawaaf, if it is not the disliked time for the Prayer, you should come behind the Muqaam-e-Ibrahim and make two rakaats Prayer. And if the disliked timing has been already started, then make it later on.
Allah the Exalted said:
( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 2, Verse:125,)
[And make Muqaam-e-Ibrahim your prayer place]
It is preferred to recite ) قل یایھاالکفرون ( completely in the first rakat and ( قل ھو اللہ احد) completely in the second rakat after reciting ( الحمد للہ ).
( Muslim, Vol: 3, Page:429. )
[..the Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) recited ( قل یایھاالکفرون ) and ( قل ھو اللہ احد) in two rakaats . ]
After the two rakaats Prayer recite this dua;
( Jame-ul-Masaned wal Mraseel: Shaikh Jalaluddin Suyuti, Vol: 11, Page: 96)
According to the Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him), when the Prophet Adam (Peace be upon him) made this dua after performing Prayer behind Muqam-e-Ibrahim, Almighty Allah revealed to Him that He is going to forgive him and whoever made this dua after you, I will forgive them, eradicate their poverty, take awy their stress and the world get down to their feet, though they do not need it.

MULTAZAM

Now, you should come to Multazam and hug it, placing your chest, cheek, and hands against it.
( Abu Dawood, E-book, No:1901 )
[ .. … Shaikh Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him…. stood up between the Black Stone and the door, (i-e Multazam) then placed his chest, face, hands and palms, and said: I saw the Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) doing like that. ]
Of course it really is an opportunity to make dua here. You can ask for whatever you wish in your own language. However, a dua that has been widely practiced by our great scholars throughout the ages, is as follows. If possible, read it with your own supplications.
( Bahar-e-Shariat, Vol:2, Part: 6, Page: 67)

ZAM ZAM

Now, turn your face towards the well of Zam Zam and drink some of it with a specific purpose to be achieved, as our beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) described in his noble saying.
( Sunan Dar Qutni, E-Book, No:2772. )
[ The Prophet of Almighty Allah (Peace be upon him) said: Zam Zam water is for what you intend? If you want to be cured, Allah will do that, if you want to be full, Allah will make it for you. And if you just want to quench your thirst, he will do that….]
We used to drink water while sitting down, but it is something special. According to the Sunnah, we are supposed to drink it while standing up, starting with Bismillah and ending with Al Hamdullilah.
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:605.)
[ Narrated by Shaikh Ibn-e-Abbas ( May Allah be pleased with them) that he said: I offered the Prophet (Peace be upon him) Zam Zam. So, he drunk it while standing up. ]
It is preferred to make the following supplication after drinking Zamam water as Shaikh Ibn-e-Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) used to recite.
( Sunan Dar Qutni, E-book, No:2771.)

SA'I

Now, the performer should get ready for sai between Safa and Marwa. Allah the Exalted, said:
( The Holy Quran, Chapter:2, Verse:158. )
[ No doubt, Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah, so those who perform Hajj or Umrah should go around them, it is not a sin. ]
For it, one should make Istelaam and recite this dua after climbing up a little on Safa, as the Prophet (Peace be upon him) did.
( The Holy Quran, Chapter: 2, Verse:158.)
Then facing towards Kaaba and stretching palms
towards sky, one should praise Allah, the Exalted, recite durood and make dua. As recorded, Beloved Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) made this dua.
( Muslim, Vol:3, Page:429. )
It is preferred to make a long dua, and then make the intention of Sai.
( Bahar-e-Shariat, Vol:1, Part:6, Page:71. )
[ O’ Allah! I intend to perform sai between Safa and Marwa, so make it easy for me and accept it from me. ]
Then get down and proceed towards Marwa. When Milain Akhdharain starts, only men should run until they come out of it. During Milain Akhdharain, you may read this dua, as our Prophet said;
( Badae: Imam Alauddin, Vol:2, Page:224, Date:2004, )
[ O’ Allah forgive and bless, and wipe our sins out that you know, you know what we don’t. Indeed you are loving and merciful. ]
Getting close to Marwa, you climb up a little on it and repeat the same that you did on Safa except making intention.
Coming from Safa up to Marwa, is counted as one round. So, repeat the same until you complete seven rounds, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) did.
( Bukhari, Vol:1, Page:609.)
[…the Noble Prophet (Peace be upon him) has completed seven rounds between Safa and Marwa….]

FOR A WEAK PERFORMER

If anyone is not able to perform Tawaaf or Sai walking on his/her own feet, it is allowed for him/her to perform them while riding on.

HALQ OR QASR

After Sai, the performer should get ready to have a complete or partial haircut, however, complete haircut for men is preferred.
( Same Reference, Page:633. )
[ Narrated by Shaikh Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah, the Exalted (Peace be upon him) said: O’ Allah! Forgive those who got their head shaved. People asked: What about those who cut their hair partially? He said: O’ Allah! Forgive those who got their head shaved. People asked: What about those who cut their hair partially? He repeated the same thrice, then he said: O’ Allah! (forgive) those who cut their hair partially. ]
And women must not intend to shave their heads because it is strictly prohibited for them.
( Abu Dawood, E-book, No:1987, )
[ The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: For women, shaving their head is not allowed, but they should cut their hair partially. ]
After shaving or a partial hair cut, the performers can take off their Ihraam, because the Umrah is completed. Now, every extra thing that became prohibited for them after putting on Ihraam is allowed.
After finishing Umrah, it is, of course better to make Tawaaf as many times as one can to get the Blessings of Allah, the Exalted.
( Ibn-e-Maja, E-book, No:3069. )
[ The Beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: Whoever performs Tawaaf and makes two rakats Prayer (after it) is as one who sets a slave free. ]

For Tawaaf, one must take care of:

  1. Don’t do it while you are not in Wudu.
  2. Must have a complete Tawaaf (seven rounds) whenever you make.
  3. Don’t miss the two rakats Prayer after Tawaaf behind Maqaam-e-Ibrahim.
  4. Don’t talk while making Tawaaf, unless in desperate need.
  5. If you need to use the restroom while making Tawaaf, go quickly and resume from where you left off.
  6. It is allowed to walk infront of any Prayer while making Tawaaf.

But, if you get tired from a series of tawaaf, then sit down for a while and keep looking at the Kaba, as this is also a way to get the reward.
( Shoabul Iman: Imam Abu Bakr Baihiqui,Vol:3, Page:455)
[ Narrated by Shaikh Ata (May Allah be pleased with him) that looking at the Kaba is Ibadat]
( For a detailed process of Hajj, one may read the book of the auther )
